Bil 56 – Anti Bullying Action Plan
Dear Parents,
As many of you may be aware, the government has a bill (Bill 56) that addresses the issue of bullying in schools. This bill requires that all schools have an Action Plan and a protocol in place to help students, parents, and staff to differentiate between bullying and issues of conflict and violence. The protocol must also provide parents, students and staff with the necessary tools for reporting incidents of bullying, and the procedure for accessing these tools.
As part of the Princess Elizabeth Elementary School’s protocol, there are “report forms” that can be used by parents to report incidents of bullying. There are different ways to report an incident that will ensure that follow-up is done at the school level and that feedback following the investigation of reported incidents, will be given back to parents. Similarly, there are forms that the students, staff and administration can use to report such incidents. If you feel that your child is a victim of bullying, please contact us at 819-843-4847 to request a form or through the school email. We will then advise you of the next step to take in the reporting process and will assist you, if necessary, in filling out the report.
You will find with this letter the basic information regarding bullying and other more in-depth information will be posted on the ETSB Website under Princess Elizabeth Elementary School.
Please take a moment to read this useful information.
It is important to remember that bullying is an on-going problem that can have long-lasting repercussions for victims and bullies. It exists not only in schools, but in society in general. It is only by bringing awareness to the issue and by working together that we will be able to improve the situation and provide a safe and healthy learning and working environment for our children and peers.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have questions concerning the Princess Elizabeth Elementary School protocol. If you need information in French, please contact the office.
Sincerely,
Catherine Zahra
Principal
